Do you wonder why your photos don’t look like what you expected? It’s such a beautiful world. Why are photos that come out of our cameras so flat and unemotional? It’s because our eyes can see more light than a camera can capture. The solution to capturing the beauty of a shot is HDR.

HDR is an abbreviation for high dynamic range. HDR photography allows you to create stunning and mind-blowing photos that include incredible lighting, color, and detail you couldn’t otherwise achieve by taking a single photo. An HDR photo displays maximum details for recreating all the beauty you perceived at the moment you took the shot.

When it comes to editing and creating your HDR photos, Aurora HDR is the world’s most powerful HDR software made exclusively for the Mac (coming soon for PC). Aurora HDR is a joint project developed by Macphun, an award-winning software company, and Trey Ratcliff, the world’s most renowned HDR photographer. Aurora HDR is fast, easy to use, and allows you to create stunning HDR photos in minutes.

Here’s what you’ll learn:
The basics of HDR photography

  • The benefits of HDR
  • Tips, advice, and secrets of HDR
  • About the Mac app Aurora HDR
  • How to create and edit HDR photos

Hear from greater Cleveland’s research and advocacy organization for the arts, Community Partnership for Arts and Culture. Valerie Schumacher will share data from the 2014 report “Forming Cleveland: A Craft, Design and Visual Arts Industry Study.” She will cover economic impact, salary data and employment trends around occupations including printing, design, architecture and others. Ms. Schumacher will then provide an overview of their resource for artists, Creative Compass. The website hosts a comprehensive list of service organizations for artists, spaces, job openings, calls for artists and the Artist as an Entrepreneur Institute online. Lastly, as the organization moves into a new era of creating the conditions for artist and culture to thrive, Ms. Schumacher will provide an overview the organization’s new strategic imperatives.

Speaker Bio: As Director of Artist Services, Valerie employs strategy and creativity in delivering services to the arts and culture sector in greater Cleveland focusing on individual artists.

Valerie serves in a range of roles at CPAC including program operations and managing the nonprofit's online presence. When she started at CPAC in 2008, Valerie implemented CPAC’s award-winning Artists as an Entrepreneur Institute (AEI) and began maintaining and improving upon the email newsletters you see today. Valerie's passion for connecting arts and culture professionals with resources fueled her work as she managed planning, content creation and implementation of Creative Compass, a clearinghouse of information for artists in greater Cleveland and the Northeast Ohio region. Valerie supported the implementation of the Creative Workforce Fellowship during its full run from its early beginnings in 2008, having directed the program from late 2014 until it ended in early 2017.

In addition to the above projects, Valerie serves as CPAC’s in-house designer/design collaborator. Her work is seen in CPAC’s brand and style guidelines, our annual reports and research such as When Artists Break Ground and Creative Minds in Medicine. She serves on The Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts Committee of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and previously served on the COSE Arts Network’s Advisory Council.
