Join us at our very special meeting featuring our members—and a few select non-members—portfolios presented in a Five-Minute Portfolio format. They will share their best work, what they enjoy, or who they are — using 20 slides that will auto-advance every 15 seconds — for a total of five high-energy minutes that will put the spotlight on their individuality and creativity. It’s an easy and really cool way to introduce themselves to their peers, for everyone to make new contacts, and gain important potential referrals.

Slideware such as PowerPoint, Keynote, and Prezi have no doubt changed the way in which we present ourselves and our stories to each other. The Cuyahoga County Public Library has recently opened it’s first Innovation Center at the Garfield Heights Branch where CDPUG quite conveniently holds our monthly meetings. The Innovation Center is a place where Graphic Artists can match inspiration with equipment and training. Come attend an orientation on the 3-D printers and scanners, laser engravers, vinyl cutters, and embroidery machines. There are even Macs and PCs with Adobe Creative Suite software, along with an Audio and a Video Recording Studio.

In addition to the equipment orientation, talented member and past president of CDPUG, Henry Lee will include a brief introduction to the 3D modeling program SketchUp. Henry will share his insights on using SketchUp with the equipment in the Innovation Center.

Autodesk Tinkerplay is a free app that lets you design and customize your own creatures and characters on your mobile device and make them real using a 3D printer. The app is available on virtually all of the major mobile platforms: iOS, Android and even Windows mobile. County residents now have access to new technology like 3D Printers and scanners, laser engravers, vinyl cutters and more! This is in conjunction to new learning opportunities to help individuals develop, launch and grow a business or new careers in new fields. 2 more Centers will soon open in Parma and Mayfield Heights. Why Buy an Oculus Rift When You Can Get VR with Coke?

CultofMac.com revealed an innovative new packaging project from Coca-Cola that will transform a traditional 12-pack box made from recycled cardboard into a Google Cardboard-esque VR viewer. Although they don’t have plans to immediately release it (cough-cough), the prototype is intriguing enough to warrant some double takes from some movie marketing gurus as a nice tie-in to their future releases.
