Whether you are just dipping your toes into the web or have long been designing and developing for the web, this meeting is for you. Working on the web offers both significant opportunities and challenges compared to designing for static mediums. Even though basic principles of design still apply, consumers experience the web and print media in significantly different ways--differences that go beyond screen size, font availability and color rendering. We will try to prepare you with knowledge that will make you more valuable to your clients and more likely to create websites that succeed in meeting their objectives.

At this meeting, long time developers Stuart Smith, Remington Phillips and Bill Kiraly will present a primer on web technologies you need to understand or at least be aware of, some ways to learn and an introduction to the important differences in how to approach a web project versus how to approach print or static electronic media.

RSVP is not required but is appreciated. Click here to send RSVP by Email. Please include your name and number of people.

Adobe Museum of Digital Media

Opening it's virtual doors last October, the online museum tries to create the experience of visiting a real space as close as possible. Museum is curated by Tom Eccles, who is executive director at the Centre for Curatorial Studies at Bard College in New York State. This is a fantastic exercise in 3D virtualization and hints at what is possible. However, the heavy use of Flash will limit visitors to browsers and devices that support the medium.
