WordPress runs 30% of the web and has never been more approachable than it is today. Whether you’re a designer, developer, copywriter or social media marketer, learning a bit about how WordPress works will help your career opportunities.

Join us for a panel discussion of local WordPress experts who will discuss how to bring your talents to the platform. We’ll try to focus on ways to customize and develop the visual side of WordPress called themes, but the conversations may vary determined by the interests of the audience.

We’ll also talk about Cleveland GiveCamp, an upcoming weekend event where 200 volunteers assist 20 local non-profits with their technical and design projects. It’s a very rewarding experience and we’re always looking for more talented individuals, especially designers.

Our panel will include:

Heidi Adam Cool • Web Design & Strategy, has 25 years experience in web development with a background in marketing that includes advertising, direct mail, copywriting, design, photography, product marketing and Internet marketing. As a marketer and web strategist, Heidi develops web sites and social media plans that are meant to serve the needs of both clients and their target audiences. Useful content, whether delivered via web site, blog or other channels attracts visitors. She has been building custom WordPress sites since 2007.

Jon is also an organizer of Cleveland GiveCamp, an annual event that brings a few hundred volunteers together to work on technical projects for area non-profits and optionally camp in tents. Always seeking volunteers and non-profits, he’s hoping to find a bit of both from every corner of Northeast Ohio.

Dallas Riffle. Dallas is president of DRM, a growing full-service marketing agency located in Fairview Park, Ohio. DRM is a brand-focused agency whose mantra is “We don’t offer solutions because we don’t see marketing as a problem. Marketing is an opportunity to tell the story of your brand.” DRM develops websites on many platforms, but WordPress has powered a larger piece of this business year over year. Dallas attended the University of Akron for Drawing & Painting and later Tri-C for Web and Graphic Design. He has worked in the creative field for nearly 20 years.
