Zygote Press (“Zygote”) is an artist-run, fine art print shop located in Cleveland, Ohio Superior-St. Clair neighborhood. Founded in 1996, Zygote’s Superior-St. Clair 6,500-sq. ft. studio offers artists facilities for intaglio, lithography, relief printing, screen printing, letterpress and digital media output center; studio spaces to rent; exhibition opportunities; and classes. Zygote’s outreach initiatives include traveling archives and five mobile presses. Zygote is the only open-access print studio in Northeast Ohio and the largest in the state.With annual national and international residency programs and program-driven resources for emerging and established artists, Zygote has played an integral role in the revitalization of the Arts Quarter district of the Superior/St. Clair neighborhood.
POSITIONThe Program Administrative Assistant (PAA) will work directly with Zygote staff, renters and contracted teaching artists. The PAA’s primary responsibility is to support the Co-Directors in a variety of administrative duties. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ordering supplies, assisting in workshop development, assisting the Directors in administrative office duties, assisting Shop Manager in coordinating classes in the shop, keeping a calendar of events, and tracking participation numbers and renter payments.
PAA Responsibilities:Programming & Education
•Works with Executive co-Director to create and manage in-houseand off-site classes and workshops, including setting prices and budgeting
•Handles all email and phone communication with clients
•Effectively communicates with clients to ensure that all projects are appropriate and expectations and deliverables are clear
•Works with Shop Manager and teaching artists to maintain program supply inventory and manages programming supply budget•Schedules teaching artists for education and outreach programs

•Manages client relationships, project invoicing, client evaluations, tracking participation numbers, and collates documentation (survey results and photos)

•With ED actively works to grow class and workshop offerings

Global Arts Initiative

•Works with ED and school administrators to identify dates ahead of program start

•Coordinates teaching schedule in the schools and necessary follow up

•Maintains all supplies and supply budget within grant guidelines•Photo documents the class for grant reporting

•Distributes and collect surveys

•Synthesizes all information for final grant report


•Greets customers as they come in the door and answers the office phone

•With Shop Manager, helps manage renter agreements, invoices, rent collection and recording, assignment of door codes, connecting new renters with Shop Manager for locker and flat file assignments

•With Shop Manager coordinates renter meetings and events

•Helps coordinate all purchase orders including: office, kitchen, and bathroom supplies

•Files paperwork and maintains records of artists contracts

•Works the point of sale (POS) system for events when needed

•Assists with membership, annual appeal, and donor outreach when needed


This position pays $15.00 an hour at 15 hours a week (three 5 hour days). The PAA will track his/her/their own hours and submit them for payroll every 2 weeks. Please send a letter of interest and resume to

The PAA must have prior administrative and/or program coordination experience. A degree in art or applicable experience preferred

The PAA must be willing to learn and easily work with a small staff

Excellent interpersonal skills a must

The ability to handle multiple tasks is required

Excellent written and verbal skills required
