Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Coordinate high profile projects with multiple components. May involve design and production techniques outside the typical processes or specifications.
Design, develop, and produce visual materials including original identity elements into an effective printed or electronic communications product for instruction, publication, display and social media.
May coordinate and create instructional, research, institutional or multi-media presentation materials.
Coordinate production with internal and external suppliers related to the management of materials, including contracting for printing and production services.
Ensure that all design work follows university graphic standards and quality control principles.
Interface with internal and external clients, interpret client’s business needs and meet the constraints of the client’s budget and schedule.
Edit and proofread copy when necessary.
Prepare illustrations such as maps and charts, brochures, slides, and advertisements for newspapers, websites and magazines.
Prepare graphic materials using design software and other computer software.
Organize and implement procedures that ensure timely completion of projects.
Recommend alternative approaches to design and production for cost-effective printed materials.
Maintain appropriate project records and files.
May supervise students and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis.
Perform related duties as assigned.
POSITION SPECIFIC AREAS MIGHT INCLUDE:
Incumbents focused on Editorial Graphic Design will be responsible for:
-Conceiving and executing editorial design services through the innovative creation of key editorial communication pieces that visually express the proper identity and tone, resonating with key university audiences. This includes printed or electronic communications for editorial production, editorial placements and advertorials.
-Completing files for delivery to production vendors.
-Working with editorial curator to bring stories to life, coordinating photo and video shoots with university staff, creating illustrations, motion graphics, animation, graphics, cover conceptualization and layout, page layout and design, all within the university and magazine style guidelines.
-Working with editorial curator for guidance on project details.
-Working with creative director for guidance on design and brand standards.
