Members may recall this film from the screening at our CDPUG 30-year anniversary meeting in August, 2017. The documentary explores how graphic design and production was accomplished before personal computers and WYSIWYG came along—now almost thirty years ago. From the 1950s to the 1990s, from hot type to cold, most of the old graphic design tools (press type) and skills (paste-up) no longer exist since the advent of modern desktop publishing. Art instructor Briar Levit’s nostalgic film captures the past many of us still fondly remember—or maybe are glad to forget!
